Santiago is a vibrant metropolis considered one of the most modern and exciting cities in Latin America. Santiago is a place full of culture and entertainment, with a strong European influence, where economic development is tangible and the lights never go out.
ELI offers internships in several areas both nonprofit organizations and private companies. We have internships in the area of Physical Therapy, Social Work and long-term internships in the area of Law and Engineering. Our programs are the perfect opportunity to develop your skills in a professional work environment and learn about the functioning of a country in the process of economic growth. Chile is also a country committed to reduce social inequality as it affects the majority of Latin American countries. Volunteer opportunities for social aid projects are available on an individual basis. |

Micro Finance
Chile is one of the fastest growing economies in Latin America and an ideal market to start new businesses. ELI partnetrs with organizations dedicated to provide training and assistance to small bussinesses in order to help them grow in a sustainable way.
Volunteers with a background in Marketing, Finance, Graphic Design, Legal assistance and Accounting will have the oportunity to work with chilean professionals and learn about the improvement of a small companies in a developing country.
Marketing and Finance
Volunteers with a background in Finance and Marketing will provide assistance to enterpreneur, helping them create a bussines plan, getting loans and improving their sales strategies.
Legal Assistance
Volunteers with a background in legal assistance will be able to learn about chilean comercial regulations and help people learn about their rights and obligation as a sall bussines owner.
Design and Marketing
Volunteers with a background in design will help small owners in the creation of a brand, corporate image and marketing tools such as websites and advertising.

Community Development
ELI partnetrs with Community organizations in Santiago aimed to improve the quality of life of people living in some of poor neighborhoods of Santiago. Participants will have the oportunity to work in a 100% Spanish Speaking enviroment while helping people in the areas of Public Health, Social Work, Education and more.
Public Health
Volunteers with a background in Public Helath could help on a local clinic assisting nurses and doctors with health education projects, vaccination campaigns and patient care in general. All tasks will be assigned by medical staff based on experience and habilities of the participant.
Social Work
ELI offers internships in the area of social work for professionals or students who want to learn about social aid in Chile. Volunteer will assist staff with paperwork and direct contact with low income families looking for acces to government benefits and assistance.
Recreational and Cultural Programs
Volunteers with a background in Event Planing and Public Relations could work organising cultural and recreational activities for the community as well as workshops and events for children and teenagers in after school programs run by comunity centers.

Physical Therapy
ELI partners with some of the most important organizations aimed to help children with disabilities, offering unique opportunities for internships for professionals and advanced students of Physical Therapy.
Interns in this program have the opportunity to assist therapists during the children’s sessions, assist with the implementation of rehabilitation programs and observing the forms of care and treatments applied to children and young people with various forms of disabilities.
Please note that all internship placements in Chile require a high level of Spanish proficiency.
Horse Therapy (EFL)
ELI has Internships available with organizations offering Equine Facilitated Learning, a growing form of therapy with horses for children with mental and emotional disorders.
Interns in this program have the opportunity to assist therapists during the children’s sessions, learn about the different exercises for rehabilitation and observe the forms of care and treatments applied to children with various forms of disabilities. Interns in this program must be strong, flexible, show initiative and commit to at least 4 weeks.
Social Work
Many children with physical or mental disabilities are abandoned everyday in rehabilitation centers or other social aid organizations. Many of these centers provide temporary or permanent shelter for children and young people with mental or physical disabilities.
ELI offers internships in the area of social work for professionals or students wishing to develop their skills by helping children and youth at risk of neglect due to their disability.
Volunteer with Disabled Children
For volunteers without a background in therapy or social work, opportunities to work with special needs children abound. Volunteers in this program will have the opportunity to attend rehabilitation and recreation to help prepare these children to build strong self-esteem and provide physical and intellectual stimulation necessary for learning.

Accommodations
Volunteers live in a shared apartment with Chilean and International Roommates. We can help you set up housing before you arrive in Santiago. The roommates we work with are all young professionals. Each participant has a private bedroom and shares the common areas and bathrooms with their roommates.
Arrival Dates
Participants should arrive in Santiago on a Thursday or Friday. Placements begin Monday morning.
Spanish Language Classes: Classes begin the first Monday of each month. If you are taking Spanish lessons, you need to arrive on the Friday or Saturday prior.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is not included in the program fee. We prefer to let participants decide what kind of coverage they need. Please see our FAQ page for information on travel insurance.
All prices are listed in US Dollars. The program fees reflect the costs ELI faces when setting up a program. We work hard to keep our costs as low as possible. ELI is a registered 501(c)3 non profit. US taxpayers may be able to deduct some or all of the program fees.
