This program is ideal for students wanting to study fine art, liberal arts, art history, and Italian language. With ELI you will get a superior educational experience while living in Florence. Once you arrive you will participate in an in-depth orientation that will cover everything you need to know for a successful semester or summer in Florence. Throughout the semester we will offer cultural activities such as cooking classes, wine tours and film nights.
The school we partner with has professional photography, printmaking, paper making, book binding, and graphic art studio space in addition to an art gallery that hosts world-renowned exhibits. The campus has a strong sense of community and students often feel as if they are part of a big family in Florence; all while studying within a short walk from the historic Duomo and Baptistry.

ELI is excited to announce a one-of-a-kind competitive internship opportunity in Florence, Italy. The intern will manage a gallery at one of Florence's most renowned art schools, just minutes away from the Duomo and Baptistery. This is a tremendous opportunity to gain international work experience while networking with the 'Who's Who" in the international art community. Interns become part of a close knit community, gain invaluable experience, and will become well-equipped to own or manage art galleries throughout the world.

Responsibilities include:
- Assisting gallery management with daily operations.
- Tracking and help schedule upcoming exhibits
- Creating and sending out press releases
- Communicating and coordinating with artists about upcoming exhibits
- Assisting artists and gallery managers with the installation of new exhibits
- Ensuring exhibitions and installations are safe and in good condition by keeping regular hours
- Coordinating opening night events including food, entertainment, and guest books
Job Requirements:
- Preferred Bachelor of Art or Masters of Art degree in a relevant field (contemporary art, art history, art criticism, studio art, etc.)
- Work experience in art or a gallery environment preferred
- Knowledge of the Italian language is preferred
Necessary Skills:
- Excellent knowledge of contemporary art history
- Superior writing and editing skills
- Good computer skills, with a preference for experience in graphic design and web-design.
- Some knowledge of the technology associated with running a gallery is helpful (computers, video and sound technology)

Housing: ELI will help you arrange housing in either a shared or private apartment, although interns are responsible for the cost of housing.

Shared apartments
Apartments vary in size with a combination of single and double bedrooms (4-6 people average per apartment). Most apartments do not have air-conditioning or washing machines. Apartments do not have telephones but cellular phones are easily available for rental at an inexpensive rate.

Private Apartments
These apartments are rented to individual interns and are generally more expensive. Those wishing to stay in a private apartment should contact the housing coordinator to arrange their housing.

Internship Cost: This is a competitive program. With this program the applicants do not have to pay an application fee however if accepted and you choose to partisipate in the program there is a $500 placement fee. This is simply to cover administrative costs. |
